8 advantages of geocells for slope protection

Oct.25.2023       911

Geocell is made of high-strength HDPE strips welded by ultrasound, which can be contracted and tensioned at will, and can provide a large anti-lateral displacement force for gravel, soil and other fillers, so that the slope forms a rigid structural whole, stabilizing the slopes of national highways, river slopes, embankments, railway roadbeds, etc. Here we will talk about the 8 major advantages of geocell gravels ecological slope protection.

Advantage 1, high strength of welded joints. As geocells are produced using advanced ultrasonic welding technology, the strength of the welded joints can meet the lateral displacement limit required by the filler. After the soil absorbs water, it will swell rapidly, while the grid sheet is strong enough to hold the soil in place without itself being propped open. This means that the cell grid is not burst by debris and soil and provides sufficient consolidation and shrinkage.

Advantage 2, with drainage holes. The drainage holes enable the excess water to be quickly discharged from the cell, so that the soil inside the cell is kept at a good moisture level, ensuring a reasonable growing environment for plant roots, especially on sites with high water flow such as river slopes, where drinking water can be quickly discharged through the drainage holes in the sheet after it has been washed inside the cell.

Advantage 3, independently closed cells. The overall structure is honeycomb, with each cell being independent and welded together to form a single structure, thus becoming an integral reinforced structure that is resistant to rainwater erosion and high flow rates of river water.

Advantage 4: Flexible and robust. The material is pe plastic, which is flexible and strong, and has a long life span, and is not afraid of outdoor UV damage, which has obvious advantages over traditional gabions plus back life span.

Advantage 5, three-dimensional structure reinforcement. Compared with geo-grids, geocells have the reinforcement effect of a flat layer, but most importantly, there is an upward reinforcement support above the vertical flat layer.

Advantage 6, the grid size can be changed at will. Depending on the slope of the construction site, the grid size of the cell can be adjusted, with larger slopes producing smaller weld torch sizes and smaller slopes producing larger weld torch grid sizes.

Advantage 7, the geotextile and 3D vegetation mesh can be matched at will. The geotextile provides further water and sand retention in the flat layer, while the 3-D vegetation mesh can be used to stabilise the vegetation in the upper layer of the chamber, providing double insurance and ensuring the integrity of the vegetation.

Advantage 8: Easy and quick connection. The cells can be connected with the manufacturer's clips, with ties or wire, or with U-shaped steel plugs.
